The HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course equips you with essential skills and knowledge to effectively respond in life-threatening situations. Designed in alignment with the latest Australian Resuscitation Council Guidelines, this course focuses on maintaining breathing and circulation in adults, children, and infants experiencing cardiac arrest. Through a blend of theoretical and practical training, participants will gain confidence in delivering CPR and using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to increase the chances of survival.

Overview

This course comprising HLTAID009 Provide CPR, delivers important skills and knowledge required to provide a critical CPR to a casualty either at home or your workplace.


Course Currency


Online Theory

Participants are to read through the online manual and successfully complete an online theory assessment prior to attending the half-day practical session usually held within one week.

A certificate of completion will be provided once you have passed the online theory component. Please bring this along with you to to practical session.


Half-day Practical Course

The nationally accredited practical training session is held over half a day covering varied topics to enable participants to manage and control emergency situations. Please see the learning outcomes tab for detailed information.


Pre-requisites

Please note that Skills Force Australia’s First Aid courses require participants to have a general physical ability to complete all practical assessments. Therefore, if you feel that your fitness level and health could restrict you from carrying out required physical activities associated with this First Aid training assessments then you may still attend however you will not be eligible for a nationally accredited certificate.


Suitable for

We believe that this qualification is ideally suited for people in workplaces, for career enhancement and members of the public who simply wish to be competent providing First Aid in an emergency.

Remember that employers are legally required to have a specific number of staff members to be qualified First Aiders and Fire Alert also recommends that Fire Wardens receive this training. This qualification is current for at least 3 years however the CPR qualification itself is required to be refreshed every 12 months according to ARC guidelines.


Language Literacy and Numeracy requirement

  • RTO’s are required to obtain evidence that you have minimum Level of English language, literacy and numeracy skills to ensure this course is right for you. Participants must complete a short LLN quiz which is automatically sent to Skills Force Australia to validate. If the quiz provides evidence that Participants have this level then they will not be contacted and may continue with theory and practical training.
  • Those who do not successfully complete this quiz will be required to access appropriate assistance.

Location:

This course is conducted every Tuesday from 7:45 am to 3:00pm at our Training Centre. Skills Force Australia is located in Wangara with free parking, however, there is the option for us to deliver group training at your workplace.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of your enrolment, training and assessment, you’ll receive a Statement of Attainment for


Recertification:

This qualification is current for 1 year only.

Provided Course Resources:

Skills Force Australia provides the following resources for the student during the class sessions as learning resources:

  • First Aid Manual – Free student handbooks are provided but are not required for training activities. The manual incorporates the latest first aid information and is a student resource providing additional information not covered under the training package core knowledge. It provides the student with an easy-to-read reference for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.
  • PowerPoint – This presentation is interactive with videos and customised to include examples and scenarios that are relevant to the real-life first aid and CPR emergencies that the student may face providing them with the skills and confidence to respond to a situation where emergency life support or basic first aid may be required.

What To Wear:

All course participants are required to wear appropriate casual attire. Closed in shoes are required but please DO NOT wear dirty work boots.
